Residents who live in the Casa Grande city limits can apply to spay or neuter their pets for free, all thanks to a $10,000 grant from the Arizona Companion Animal Spay/Neuter Committee.
The City of Casa Grande Animal Care & Adoption Center was awarded the grant to help reduce pet overpopulation in the community. This is the fourth year the City has applied and received the grant, which is made available from the support and sales of the Arizona Companion Animal Spay and Neuter Pet Friendly License Plates,www.azpetplates.org
Pet owners interested in spaying or neutering their pet must fill out an application to receive a voucher. Applications are available in the Finance Office located at 510 E. Florence Blvd., Building B. The voucher only covers the cost of spay or neuter.
Only two pets per household are eligible. Pets must be at least 3 months old and have a current rabies vaccination. A rabies vaccination certificate must be presented or one will be provided at the time of the surgery for $10. Once applications have been submitted, a staff member will call within a week to schedule a surgery date.
The Casa Grande Animal Care & Adoption Center will continue to give out spay and neuter vouchers to residents until grant money is depleted. For more information call (520) 421-8601 or (520) 426-9300.
