Join the City of Casa Grande for a full day of July 4th activities!
The Palm Island Family Aquatic Park will be open from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and will be hosting games and contests in addition to our popular water attractions. Swim rates are at a discounted price as well, $1.00 for adults and .50 for children under 18. Palm Island is located at 1115 N. Brown Ave.
Later that evening head over to the Paul Mason Sports Complex where events will run from 6:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Relay races, watermelon eating contests and vendors will be onsite, as well as Miele Entertainment providing DJ services, jumping castles and water slides. Fireworks are set to go off at 9:00 p.m. sharp! Paul Mason Sports Complex is located at 2525 N Pinal Ave.

The local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), in partnership with the City of Casa Grande and other sponsors, will host a tree planting ceremony to celebrate Arbor Day at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 13 at Peart Park located at 350 E. 6th Street. Students from local schools will help plant a tree. The community is invited to participate in the event.
This year's Arbor Day tree will be a Chinese Pistache, a tree that grows to about 40 feet high with a 35 foot spread in Arizona. The Chinese Pistache is remarkably tolerant of aridity, heat and alkaline soil. Its dark green foliage and umbrella top provide excellent shade on hot summer days.
According to the Arbor Day Foundation, trees produce oxygen, can add value to your home, help cool your home and neighborhood, and provide food for wildlife.

Trash normally collected on Monday, February 16 will be collected on Tuesday, February 17. Trash normally collected on Tuesday, February 17 will be collected on Wednesday, February 18.
Recycling collection normally made on Monday, February 16 will be collected on Tuesday, February 17 along with normal Tuesday pickup.
The Casa Grande Landfill will be closed on Monday, February 16 and will return to normal operating hours (7:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.) on Tuesday, February 17.

On Saturday, January 31 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the Professional Firefighters of Casa Grande, the Casa Grande Police Department Trust Fund, Southwest Ambulance IAFF Local I-60, and many local schools from the community are teaming up to host a car wash to help raise funds for the Wesley/Spade family who recently suffered a tragic loss due to a fatal car crash on January 14. The car wash will be at Three G’s Flowers located at 200 East Florence Blvd. directly across from Casa Grande Fire Department Station 501 in downtown Casa Grande.
As a community, we are all hoping to pitch in to help lift some of the burden these surviving young people are enduring. We need YOUR participation. Please bring your vehicles and make a donation to receive a top notch exterior car wash. Several local businesses and organizations have already donated materials and resources. Now, we need YOU and YOUR CARS!

Cowboy Days & O’odham Tash returns to Casa Grande in February for some Wild West action. This month on City Scene we give you a sneak peek at this year’s rodeo. The monthly show airs on Cox Channel 11 every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday at 7:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 7:30 p.m. You can also watch the show online or below.
Event organizers Dick Powell and Larry Rains provide a rundown of Cowboy Days and O’odham Tash, which runs from February 13 through February 22 at the Ed Hooper Rodeo Grounds located at 2525 N. Pinal Avenue. Activities will include a ranch rodeo that features today’s working cowboys, an All-Indian rodeo honoring Casa Grande’s Native American neighbors, professional team roping, barrel racing, and other rodeo events.
A parade will be held on Saturday, February 21 at 10:00 a.m. along Florence Blvd. from Brown Avenue to Florence Street in Historic Downtown. A carnival will also be part of the festivities, along with Native American performances and a variety of food options.
Cowboy Days & O’odham Tash is organized by the Pinal County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse and is sponsored by the City of Casa Grande, among others. This year Casa Grande Main Street will hold the 15th Annual Historic Downtown Street Fair /Car & Bike Show. Over 200 exhibitors travelling from across the United States will be selling art, pottery, jewelry, clothing, sculptures, and products of all kinds.
Two food courts will be serving international fare as well as traditional fair food such as funnel cakes, beer battered delights, chicken wings and hot dogs. The car show food court will feature Feli’s Cuban Kitchen’s food, cocktails and latin dance music.
The Golden Eagle Main Stage and Beer Garden will offer non-stop live entertainment ranging from folk vocalists to country, jazz and Motown favorites. A Sunday “Jazz Brunch” from 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. will feature mimosas and brunch favorites along with great jazz vocals from Trio, Keoni Funk Jazz Band and June Murphy.
The Street Fair will take place on Saturday, January 17th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, January 18th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Historic Downtown Casa Grande on Florence St.between Main St. and Florence Blvd.
The Car Show on January 17th will feature over 150 custom cars, classic cars and motorcycles. Awards will be given based on votes by fellow car show exhibitors and there will be a People’s Choice Award culminating with a ceremony on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
On Sunday, Jan. 19th, there will be a free “Show and Shine” where car enthusiast may display their cars at the same location on Second Street between Sacaton and Florence Streets. Car clubs and multiple car participants are welcomed.

The City of Casa Grande is now accepting applications for the 2015 Leadership Academy. This unique program is a focused, in-depth look at the City and its operations in eight sessions spread over 8 weeks.
Participants will learn what it takes to build roads and parks and to plan for future growth. Sessions will include presentations on the City budget, police and fire operations, planning and development, and tours of facilities.

2014 Annual Report Now Available
The Public Information Office is pleased to present the 2014 Annual Report to our citizens. The report highlights some of the major projects the City accomplished during 2014. The report also includes a summary of the financial activities of the City of Casa Grande, which was drawn from the 2014 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) and Annual Budget. It contains information only from selected funds. It is our goal to provide a means of communicating the financial operations of the City in an easy to understand financial report.

Help Reduce Pet Overpopulation in Casa Grande: Spay/Neuter Your Pet for Free
Residents who live in the Casa Grande city limits can apply to spay or neuter their pets for free, all thanks to a $10,000 grant from the Arizona Companion Animal Spay/Neuter Committee.
The City of Casa Grande Animal Care & Adoption Center was awarded the grant to help reduce pet overpopulation in the community. This is the fourth year the City has applied and received the grant, which is made available from the support and sales of the Arizona Companion Animal Spay and Neuter Pet Friendly License Plates,www.azpetplates.org
Pet owners interested in spaying or neutering their pet must fill out an application to receive a voucher. Applications are available in the Finance Office located at 510 E. Florence Blvd., Building B. The voucher only covers the cost of spay or neuter.
Only two pets per household are eligible. Pets must be at least 3 months old and have a current rabies vaccination. A rabies vaccination certificate must be presented or one will be provided at the time of the surgery for $10. Once applications have been submitted, a staff member will call within a week to schedule a surgery date.
The Casa Grande Animal Care & Adoption Center will continue to give out spay and neuter vouchers to residents until grant money is depleted. For more information call (520) 421-8601 or (520) 426-9300.
