May City Scene Features Arts & Humanities Commission, Main Library Renovations
The Commission’s latest project is a future railroad art plaza in downtown that will be located in the Life on Main area along Washington Street between Main Avenue and 1st Avenue. The Commission has chosen Allen Gross and Evelyn Davis to create conceptual design plans and present a budget estimate for the construction and development of the future railroad art plaza. The artists are currently seeking public input on this project to incorporate elements of the community into their design concepts. Residents are invited to attend a presentation at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13 at the Museum of Casa Grande, 110 W. Florence Blvd.
“The railroad art plaza is an important element of the Life on Main Master Plan,” says Arts & Humanities Commission Chair Erica Herman. “It will be a highly visible gateway to the community as well as a wonderful piece of artwork that will add to Casa Grande’s beauty.”
The Arts & Humanities Commission meets on the first Wednesday of every month at 4:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 510 E. Florence Blvd. The meetings are open to the public. For more information you can contact City Clerk Remy Miller at (520) 421-8608 or email@example.com
The show this month also features the renovations at the Casa Grande Main Library. Improvements include a larger computer lab, an outdoor patio area, a larger activities room and a small coffee shop that will be opening in the near feature.
“The renovations were done to improve the use of space and increase operational efficiency to meet the current and future demands of the community,” says Library Manager Amber Kent. “We’re excited about the new changes and hope to see some new faces very soon.”
Located at 449 N. Dry Lake Street, the Main Library has a variety of books, movies, and classes for all ages. The library is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. To learn about classes and events, visit www.casagrandeaz.gov/rec/library or call (520) 421-8710.
