On Monday, July 28 the public is invited to an open house to celebrate the grand opening of the newly remodeled Public Safety Communications Center in downtown Casa Grande. The open house begins at 9:00 a.m. and will include a ribbon cutting ceremony and tours of the facility.
Located at 520 N. Marshall Street, the Public Safety Communications Center was renovated to improve public safety operations and meet the future needs of the police department. The interior was renovated to create a new dispatch console room, police substation and appropriate office and support spaces for a 24/7 facility. The facility houses staff that provides emergency dispatch calls for fire and police. Although police officers will not be at the station full time, citizens can walk in the front lobby and speak to a dispatcher via an intercom system. If needed, an officer can be dispatched to meet with citizens.
Originally built in 1978, the downtown facility served as police headquarters until the new Public Safety Facility was built in 2011 at 373 E. Val Vista Blvd. This new facility in the north-end of the city limits serves as headquarters for both police and fire operations.
Guided tours of the remodeled Public Safety Communications Center will be conducted from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Additional tours will be available for the community from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on the same day.
